Coach Andy is in his second season as Head Coach for the St. Scholastica Saints (ACHA Women's DII). While St. Scholastica added an NCAA Division III Women's Team in the 2010-11 season, the survival of the ACHA program was uncertain. After several setbacks, the program continued and finished the 2010-11 season with a 5-9-0 record.
Prior to 2010-11, Andy was the Head Assistant Coach at St. Scholastica for four seasons (under Head Coach, Brian Carl). During this time the team qualified for the ACHA National Tournament three times (2007, 2009 and 2010) finishing as National Champions (2007), National Runner's Up (2009) and 4th Place (2010). During those four seasons the program graduated several All-Americans (1st and 2nd Team), Academic All-Americans, had participants in the ACHA National Development Camp (URI, 2009), rostered a player on the first ACHA Women's Team to play in Europe and during the 2008-09 season rostered freshman goaltender, Rachel Borchardt, receipient of the Zoey M. Harris Award.
Outside ACHA hockey Andy is active in his local community serving on a Duluth Sister Cities Committee, a member of the Duluth Denfeld Alumni Association and St. Scholastica Alumni Association Boards of Directors. He is a local business owner and has one child, Alexa (four).
Andy Ensign is a USA Hockey Level IV Coach.
