Head Coach Voegtli joins the UMBC Ice Hockey program with a decade of coaching experience. Voegtli grew up in New Brighton, MN, and played for the Irondale Youth Program. He capped off his youth hockey career as Team Captain for Irondale High School, collecting All-Conference Honors as a senior.
After high school he decided there was much to give back to this game and moved into coaching. He started coaching in the North St. Paul and St. Louis Park programs in Minnesota at the age of 20. In 2002 Voegtli moved to Philadelphia, PA, and accepted the Head Coach position with Plymouth Whitemarsh. He led their program to their first four playoff appearances and their first Flyers Cup berth. Voegtli moved to Temple University as their Head Coach in 2006, leading the Owls to three consecutive appearances in the ACHA Southeast Regional Tournament. In recognition of his leadership, he was selected to coach the 2009 MACHA All-Star team at the ACHA All-Star Challenge Weekend.
Voegtli currently lives in Philadelphia, PA, with his wife Kristin, where he is employed as a Financial Advisor. He has also assisted with summer camps and skill programs out of Power Play Ice Arena in Exton, PA, and has guest appeared in numerous rinks around the Philadelphia area teaching skills such as shooting, puck handling, checking, power skating and speed training. He has a level 4 USA hockey certification.
