1. Automatic National Tournament bids
a. 2 years at the Men’s Division 1 level (with minimum 6 M1 teams), as a league
b. Eligible for automatic berth during year two
c. 100% ACHA Men’s Division 1 membership
d. Regular-Season Champions (One team per league. Must be decided 17 days prior to nationals or bid is null = BY FEBRUARY 16, 2010.
e. Member teams must play a minimum of 20 ACHA Men’s Division 1 games (if any team fails, bid is null) and 10 league games
f. Applicable beginning with the 2004-2005 season
g. Current Qualified Leagues:
i. CSCHL – Central States Collegiate Hockey League
ii. ECHA - Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association
iii. ECHL - Eastern Collegiate Hockey League
iv. ESCHL – Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League [2008]
iv. CHMA – College Hockey Mid-America [2008]
v. NECHL – Northeast Collegiate Hockey League [2009]
2. The host team shall receive an automatic berth
3. Should a team receiving an automatic berth not be ranked in the Top 16, then the lowest ranked team will be bumped from the tournament. This will continue until all automatic berth teams have been moved into the Top 16.
This years ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Robert Morris University - Illinois and will take place March 6-10, 2010 at The Edge in Bensenville, IL. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
