WEST BLOOMFIELD (MI) - Defending ACHA Division 1 National Champion Rhode Island was again the overwhelming choice for the top spot in Ranking #2 of the 2006-07 season, getting 38 of a possible 41 first-place votes. The Rams have scored 58 goals in 6 games while only allowing 3 goals during that span. #2 Illinois received one first-place vote, while #4 Ohio garnered the other two first-place votes. Liberty and Indiana (PA) each had the highest jump, moving up three spots each.
The third ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 3.
This weekend, sixteen Division 1 teams will take part in the 4th Annual ACHA Division 1 Showcase at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH. Tickets are available at the door. For further information, go to www.achahockey.org
This years ACHA Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Kent State University and take place February 28-March 4, 2007 at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
