2006-07 ACHA Division 1 Ranking #1

WEST BLOOMFIELD (MI) - Defending ACHA Division 1 National Champion Rhode Island was the overwhelming choice for the top spot in Ranking #1 of the 2006-07 season, getting 32 of a possible 33 first-place votes.  Illinois received the other first-place vote.  Oakland was the big mover jumping up six spots to come in at #12.  New Division 1 teams Liberty and Indiana (PA) both made their debuts on the ranking, coming in at #18 and #20 respectively.
 
The second ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, October 20.
 
On October 20-22, sixteen Division 1 teams will take part in the 4th Annual ACHA Division 1 Showcase at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH.  Tickets are available at the door.  For further information, go to www.achahockey.org

This years ACHA Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Kent State University and take place February 28-March 4, 2007 at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH.  Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
