Indiana University Admitted into CSCHL

2009-11-13

WILL BEGIN LEAGUE PLAY IN 2010-2011

The Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL) has approved the membership application for Indiana University for the 2010-2011 season.  The Hoosiers, located in Bloomington, IN, play their home games at the Frank Southern Arena in Bloomington, IN.  This season, Indiana moved up to ACHA Men’s Division 1, after nearly two decades playing at the ACHA Men’s Division 2 level.  During their tenure in ACHA Men’s Division 2, the Hoosiers were ACHA Men’s Division 2 National Runners-Up on four separate occasions:  1994-1995, 1997-1998, 1999-2000, and 2007-2008.

Despite the recent addition of Indiana University to the CSCHL, three member teams will be withdrawing their membership at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 season.  Those three teams are: Eastern Michigan University (members since 1989-1990); the University of Michigan-Dearborn (members since 1991-1992); and Western Michigan University (members since 1998-1999).

The departure of those three schools will leave the CSCHL with 7 teams for the 2010-2011 season:

  1. University of Illinois                      Champaign, IL
  2. Indiana University                        Bloomington, IN
  3. Iowa State University                   Ames, IA
  4. Kent State University                    Kent, OH
  5. Lindenwood University                   St. Charles, MO
  6. Ohio University                            Athens, OH
  7. Robert Morris University Illinois        Chicago, IL

The CSCHL Playoffs will be a 7-team format, with the Regular-Season Champion receiving a bye on the first day of play.
