ILLINOIS NOW AT 46 CONSECUTIVE WINS

UNION LAKE, MI - The defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, the University of Illinois, received 38 of a possible 42 votes to top the polls in Ranking #2.  The Fighting Illini have been ranked #1 for 12 consecutive polls and have now won 46 consecutive games.  Lindenwood University, Runners-Up in 2007-2008, received the other 4 first place votes and held strong in the #2 spot.  Michigan-Dearborn was the big gainer, jumping up an astronomical 10 spots to come in at #12.  Other movers and shakers:  Robert Morris (PA) up four spots to #16; Central Oklahoma up three spots to #13; Mercyhurst appears in the polls for the first time since the 2007-2008 Pre-Season Ranking; and Youngstate State makes its debut in the polls for the first time, in only its third season at the Divsion 1 level.
 
The third ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 7.
 
The 2009 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by John Carroll University and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and will take place March 14-18, 2009 at the Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, OH.  Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
