ARIZONA STATE WINS ITS FIRST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OVER ROBERT MORRIS ILLINOIS

UNION LAKE, MIArizona State University defeated Robert Morris University Illinois 3-1 at the Fred Rust Arena in Newark, DE to claim its first Murdoch Cup, awarded to the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions. Freshman goaltender Robert Levin of Arizona State was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player, after posting a 95.8 save percentage, 2 shutouts, and only allowing 4 goals in 4 games. Head Coach Greg Powers and his Sun Devils, the #1 seed heading into the tournament and Regular Season Champions of the newly formed Western Collegiate Hockey League, ended the season with a 38-2-0 record, including 24 consecutive wins to begin the season. The Sun Devils previous best finish at Nationals was 3rd Place last season. Head Coach Chico Adrahtas and #3 Seed Robert Morris Illinois, Regular Season and Playoff Champions from the Central States Collegiate Hockey League, finished the season with a 33-8-2 record. The Eagles were making their first appearance in both the Semi-Finals and Championship Game.

The 2015 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 5-10 by John Carroll University and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the OBM Arena in Strongsville, OH.
