In a weekend with a full slate of games we will begin with a top ten match up that saw #1 Miami travel to #10 Liberty. In two high paced games Liberty was able to earn a split with the top ranked team dropping a 4-2 decision Thursday night before earning the split with a 4-3 win Friday afternoon.
#2 Rhode Island continued its great start in the second half by taking a pair from #7 Northeastern 6-2 and 3-1. #3 Adrian went on the road to CCWHA foe Northern Michigan and swept a pair of games 3-1 and 6-0 respectively. #4 Robert Morris hosted #13 Davenport and swept a pair from them 6-4 and 6-1. #8 Michigan traveled to heated rival Ohio St. for a pair of CCWHA games and was able to skate away with two convincing wins 9-1 and 5-0. All the while #9 Michigan St. had a home and home with Central Michigan and blew their doors off with 16-1 and 17-3 victories. Buffalo made the trip to Burlington, VT to take on fellow ECWHL foe and #14 Vermont. The Catamounts were able to sweep a pair with 6-2 and 5-3 scores.
With the 3rd ranking period complete we are entering the home stretch with the final spots for the National tournament still up for grabs. There are some big match ups this weekend as #7 Northeastern heads down to #10 Liberty in what will be a big series for both. #8 Michigan will head to #7 Grand Valley that has not only National tournament implications but CCWHA implicatoins as well. The same thing goes for #4 Robert Morris as they head to #9 Michigan st. . Check back often for results!
