2013-11-26

ARIZONA STATE OFF AGAIN BUT STILL HOLDING THE TOP SPOT

UNION LAKE, MI –Arizona State University is still on top of the polls in the 2013-2014 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #10 despite being idle again this past weekend.  The Sun Devils, with a perfect 19-0-0 record, are the only remaining Men’s Division 1 team without a loss.  The top four was unchanged this week, with #2 Robert Morris Illinois, #3 Minot State, and #4 Iowa State all holding pat.  Oklahoma moved up a spot to round out the Top 5.
.
Big winners in the computer ranking this week were: #7 Ohio (up 2 spots), #9 Stony Brook (up 2 spots), #15 Illinois (up 2 spots),  #16 Davenport (up 2 spots),  #19 Rhode Island (up 2 spots), and #23 Syracuse (up 3 spots).
.
Here is how the ranking is going to work using the computers:  The ACHA will use the two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), and come up with an average of the two rankings.  The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking.  Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking A until the Top 25 teams are listed.
.
The computer ranking will for the first time determine the 20 teams that qualify for the 2014 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following seven autobids:
