American Collegiate Hockey Association Men’s Division I Vice-President, Bill Shannon today announced that Liberty will face Stony Brook in the second ACHA Game of the Week on Friday, November 15 at 7:00 pm.
Last week’s Game of the Week saw #2 Arizona State upset the defending National Champions #1 Minot State by a 2-1 score on November 7. The Sun Devils rode the victory to the #1 spot in the most recent ACHA DI rankings.
Liberty enters the contest as the #4 ranked team in DI with Stony Brook not far behind at #11. The Seawolves will travel to the LaHaye Ice Center for a weekend series with an eye on gaining ground on first place in the ESCHL. Stony Brook is just one point behind #7 University of Delaware for the lead in their conference.
Liberty is currently the winningest Independent in the country with a 16-1-0 record. They hold four games in hand on #2 Minot State at this point, but can continue to gain ground in the polls with a strong weekend against yet another ranked opponent. After vaulting three spots in the most recent rankings, Liberty’s next jump could take them into the top three in the country.
