Ed Giacomucci Named ACHA Referee-in-Chief

35 YEARS OF OFFICIATING EXPERIENCE, TAKES OVER FOR THE DEPARTING SHANE HANLON

The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) is pleased to welcome Ed Giacomucci as our new ACHA Referee-in-Chief (RIC).

Ed has been a part of the ACHA for many years as an official, scheduler and supervisor in the Philadelphia area. He brings thirty-five years of on-ice and off-ice officiating knowledge and experience to the ACHA Referee-in-Chief position. Ed also participates as a member of the ACHA Mentor program. Ed’s experience includes ACHA scheduling and supervision of National and Local ACHA tournaments, including

  • 2009 DII All-Star Challenge

  • 2010 DII Southeast Regionals, DIII Nationals, DIII All-Star Challenge

  • 2011 DII All-Star Challenge

  • 2012 DII Southeast Regionals, DIII Nationals, DIII All-Star Challenge

Ed is one of the founding members of the Philadelphia based Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Officials Association (MAHOA). Serving as President, MAHOA currently has 180 officials working ACHA games. Ed's on ice officiating experience includes working ACHA DI, DII and DIII games.

As a player, Ed was a goaltender and completed his playing career at the USA Hockey Junior level. When not spending time in a hockey rink, his activities include fishing, boating, softball and golfing.

Ed states “I look forward to helping the ACHA and continuing the ACHA standard. I would also like thank our past Referee-in-Chief Shane Hanlon. Shane has been our RIC for the past eight years and we owe Shane much gratitude for organizing our officials on a National level”.
