2nd ACHA D3 Select Camp Announced

2012-03-02

ACHA Division 3 is proud to announce the details for our second All-Star Challenge...

ACHA Division 3 is proud to announce the details for our second All-Star Challenge.  The event will be a modified round robin tournament between ten teams comprised of the top talent nationwide in Division 3 at the Ice Line Arena in Westchester, PA.  Although these teams will compete in a grueling 48 hours of hockey vying for the tournament championship, the big prize at stake for these players is a spot on the 2012 Division 3 National Team.  The All-Star Challenge will once again serve as the primary tryout camp for the team that Division 3 will be sending to Europe over the winter break next year.  Although it will not be a requirement to be play in this tournament if you wish to be considered for the National Team, it is highly recommend that you do.

The ten teams set to compete in the All-Star Challenge and their primary contacts are:

1.  Blue Ridge Hockey Conference (BRHC)- Ben Hammock

2.  College Hockey East (CHE)- DJ Craven

3.  The South Independents (SIT)- Josh Onyschuk

4.  Pacific College Hockey Association (PCHA)- Todd Schual

5.  Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference - Scott Solomon

6.  Delaware Valley College Hockey Conference (DVCHC)- Ian Waterson

7.  Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Conference (MACHA)- Jim Sanchez

8.  Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (Blue Team) - Chris Van Timmeren

9.  Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (Red Team) - Chris Van Timmeren

10. South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SECHC)- Sarge Day

The above teams have been assigned other independent teams in their region that they can draw players from to ensure that every player in Division III has the possibility of making the tryout camp.  These teams were ranked prior to the event one through ten by the Regional Coordinators.  Team 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 will play in Pool A and 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 in Pool B.  The tentative schedule for the event is a modified round robin.  Due to the weekend constraints, the teams will play nearly everyone in their pool and all of the teams, with the exceptions of the top ranked team in each pool, will cross over to play their equivalent in the other pool.

Pool A

BRHC, Empire, MACHA, MCHC (Red), SIT

Any ties in the Pool standings will be settled by the same tie breaker rules used at the National Championship Tournament.

Pool B

CHE, DVCHC, MCHC (Blue), PCHA, SECHC
