UNION LAKE, MI - Penn State University climbed to the top spot in the 2011-2012 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #2, after a pair of blowout wins (12-0 Lebanon Valley and 11-0 Illinois) and an impressive two-game sweep on the Big Pond at Illlinois. The Nittany Lions received 30 of 45 first-place votes and are ranked #1 for the first time since the 2007-2008 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #1 was released on October 5, 2007.
Five other teams garnered first-place votes, with #2 Lindenwood (6), #3 Ohio (4), #4 Arizona State (2), #5 Delaware (1), and #9 Liberty (2) receiving the other 15 first-place votes.
The third ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 4.
The 2012 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 3-7 by Kent State University and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at Hoover Arena in Strongsville, OH. The field has expanded from 16 to 20 teams beginning with this tournament.
