M1 "Quick Shifts" (November 12 Edition)

2010-11-12

OUTDOOR GAME AT THE BIG HOUSE; BENEFIT FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS; RONAYNE HITS 100TH GAME

M1 University of Michigan-Dearborn and M1 Eastern Michigan have been added to the list of teams squaring off at the outdoor ice rink that will be put up in the Big House on the campus of the University of Michigan football stadium. Dearborn and Eastern Michigan will square off Dec. 8 at 8:30pm in a regular season Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League contest.

Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Game
M1 Oakland University
will be playing a fundraiser game on Sunday, Nov. 14 (6pm) at Great Lakes Sports City in Fraser. Oakland will be squaring off against the Michigan Hometown Heroes, a team comprised of Michigan-based National Guard members, in a non-checking contest.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tickets for the event are $10. The tickets will be available at the door at the ice rink, or can be purchased from any of the team members. The money raised will be divided evenly between the CF foundation and the hockey team.

Nick Tomczyk, men’s hockey assistant coach, told the Oakland Post the team is really excited for the opportunity to help raise funds for the research on CF and they hope to do more events similar to this in the future.

“Part of the vision of this program is to inspire these young men to get involved with charities after their playing days,” Tomczyk said. “It’s important to give back and help people in need.”

Milestones
M1 Oakland University team captain Colin Ronayne will play his 100th game as a Grizzly in tonight’s contest against Oklahoma. He will become the 17th Grizzly to reach the 100-game mark.
