UNION LAKE, MI - The two-time defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, Lindenwood University, received 36 of a possible 45 first-places votes to hold onto the top spot in the 2010-2011 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #3. Lurking behind the Lions is the three-time defending defending ACHA Men's Division 2 National Champions, Davenport University, which pulled in 7 first-place votes. Arizona State solidified its #3 spot, Oklahoma dropped a spot to #4, and Adrian and Ohio both jumped into the top 5, tying for the #5 position.
A total of four teams received first-place votes in the poll, including: Davenport (7), Adrian, and Delaware.
With a little less volitility in this weeks ranking, the big movers and shakers only moved up two spots this week to take those honors. That group of teams included Adrian, Rhode Island, Robert Morris Illinois, and Niagara, which is appearing in the polls for the first time since October of 2008. A bevy of teams were able to move up one spot each, including Ohio, Delaware, Illinois, Minot State, Buffalo, Stony Brook, and Robert Morris Pennsylvania.
Only two teams remain with unblemished records: Robert Morris Illinois (11-0-0) and Lebanon Valley (5-0-0). Meanwhile, three others have only lost in overtime or a shootout: Adrian, Arizona State, and Delaware.
The fourth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 19.
The 2011 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by the University of Delaware and will take place March 5-9, 2011 at the Fred Rust and Gold Arenas in Newark, DE. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
