Coaching staff for the Inaugural ACHA Women's Select Team Chosen
As preparation continues for the 2010 ACHA Women's Select Team program, the coaching staff was recently selected by a designated ACHA leadership group.
Beth McCann, head coach for the University of Rhode Island Women's hockey team, was chosen as the head coach for this team. McCann has been a driving force in organizing and cultivating the Women's Select program within the women's ranks. Beth has been a hockey coach for 11 years which includes 9 years within the ACHA. She played ice hockey at Northeastern University and served as the team's captain for 2 seasons.
In addition to the selection of Beth as the head coach, Chris Cobb and Brian Carl were chosen as Assistant Coaches. Chris Cobb is currently the Head Coach for the University of Massachusetts Women's program. Chris is a certified Level 1 USA hockey coach, served as National Tournament Director for the 2007 National Tournament and an active member on several ACHA women's division committees.
Brian Carl is the Head Coach for the College of St. Scholastica women's hockey program in Duluth, Minnesota. Brian has committed over 12 years of his life to girl's and women's hockey. St. Scholastica has participated in 2 of the past 3 national tournaments and he currently serves on several ACHA committees including the ranking & competition committee.
The ACHA is honored to have such a decorated coaching staff assisting with the inaugural season of this team. The Select Team is currently slated to travel to Europe in the early Spring 2010 with destinations to include Switzerland, France and Austria.
