UNION LAKE, MI - The defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, Lindenwood University (11-0-0), received 43 of 44 first-place votes to top the polls in Ranking #2. Holding steady in the #2 spot was Illinois. Undefeated Liberty (10-0-0), moving up 4 spots from the last ranking, received the other first-place vote, and was tied for #3 with Ohio, which moved up 2 spots. Rounding out the top 5 was Iowa State, which bounced up 3 spots in the ranking.
Only 6 of the 25 teams stayed in the same position from Ranking #1.
#13 Arizona State was the big gainer, jumping up 16 spots from Ranking #1, appearing in the polls for the first time in 2 years, while Minot State moved up 9 spots to come in at #18. Both teams went 3-0 at the 2009 ACHA Men's Division 1 Showcase in Boardman, OH. Adrian College moved up another 6 spots to settle in at #11, while Central Oklahoma scooted up 3 spots to occupy the #9 position. Michigan-Dearborn and Western Michigan each moved up a pair of spots to come in at #12 and #22 respectively. Indiana (PA) moves into the top 25 for the first time since November of 2006, settling in to the #24 spot.
The third ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 6.
The 2010 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Robert Morris University Illinois and will take place March 6-10, 2010 at The Edge in Bensenville, IL. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
